Prague - The Chamber Budget Committee today recommended approving an amendment aimed at improving the Ministry of Finance's oversight of compliance with the conditions for providing state support for building savings. The amendment also includes registered partners among close persons. The committee recommended only incorporating a technically legislative change into the amendment.

According to the ministry, including registered partners among close persons should eliminate their unjustified discrimination. "There is no reason for registered partnerships to be viewed differently than marriages for the purposes of financing housing needs of close persons," the office stated.

The adjustment of checks is intended to facilitate their execution by specifying the Ministry of Finance's options to require information from building savings banks. The ministry will also be able to obtain data on birth and death dates from the Ministry of the Interior.

Furthermore, the amendment introduces a new administrative offense in case a building savings bank provides a bridging or regular loan for a purpose other than covering costs related to housing needs. The proposal changes the deadlines for returning state support if the entitlement to it has been lost. The amount of state support remains at the current level.
