Brno - The Brno Military Hospital intends to build a new pavilion. It should be constructed at the site where the neurology department building currently stands. By building it, the hospital would not increase the number of beds, but rather the comfort of the patients. The old six-bed rooms in the military hospital are being converted into two- and three-bed rooms, so the facility needs more space, said Antonín Vodák, who is in charge of the hospital, to ČTK today.

The plan to build a new pavilion is long-term, but according to Vodák, there is currently no money for the investment. Therefore, the hospital is making less costly repairs and extensions in the area. A large part of these must precede the construction of the new pavilion. For example, this year the hospital opened new spaces for the internal inpatient department - which were created as an extension on one of the buildings. This year's plan also includes the renovation of seven elevators, which should then comply with European Union requirements.
The Military Hospital is located in the grounds of the former Premonstratensian monastery. Some buildings have been serving patients for over 200 years and do not meet today's requirements. This year, the roof on part of them was repaired - a new beaver tail roofing was installed by roofers on the building serving outpatient clinics and the inpatient part of the ENT department.
The Military Hospital is a contributory organization of the Ministry of Defense. In addition to special tasks for the army, it takes care of civilian patients from the Brno catchment area. Last year, it treated about 50,000 patients. The hospital employs around 470 people.
