Prague - The state is preparing to strengthen its oversight over the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) and the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians in Construction (ČKAIT). The government will discuss a proposal for an amendment to the law on Wednesday, which has been prepared by the Ministry for Regional Development (MMR). Jana Jabůrková, the spokesperson for the office, told ČTK today. "So far, the members of the authorization councils of these chambers have been appointed based on their own proposals. Now, the representation of the state will be firmly established in the law," the spokesperson stated. According to her, the impetus for the amendment to the law emerged in 2009, when the then government was discussing an amendment to the law on executors. In the case of ČKA, the members of the council will include representatives from the ministries of regional development, environment, and culture, while the authorization council of ČKA will have representatives from the ministries of regional development, transport, agriculture, and industry. Both chambers are self-governing institutions with national jurisdiction and mandatory membership. They ensure, for example, examinations of professional competence or the granting and revocation of authorizations. Both chambers also prepare and conduct examinations for candidates for the position of authorized inspector.
