Prague - Modern office buildings are constructed by developers so that the building obtains some form of ecological certification. Therefore, offices are equipped with so-called recuperation, which is automatic air exchange. In order for the system to function properly, the windows cannot be opened. However, a survey by the real estate consulting company JLL showed that the vast majority of workers in Prague's offices require openable windows.

Even in fully air-conditioned offices, 91 percent of respondents consider openable windows to be absolutely essential. Nearly three-quarters of respondents (73%) open the windows in the office every day. Only one in ten employees opens the windows only if the air conditioning is not working.
"The results confirmed our assumptions that the vast majority of employees consider openable windows to be a necessity; however, the frequency of their opening surprised even us. The fact that 73% of those who consider openable windows to be essential open them every day is astounding," commented the survey results by JLL's Business Development Director Eduard Forejt.
The absence of openable windows was considered a fatal flaw primarily by users of old reconstructed office buildings. "It should be noted that in older buildings, this problem is exacerbated by noisy window air conditioning units," pointed out Forejt.
In modern buildings, which are cooled automatically and quietly, it is not necessary to open the windows at all. "There are even buildings where CO2 sensors are installed, and in case of CO2 accumulation in the offices, the building reacts and supplies an adequate amount of fresh air to the space,"
