Ústí nad Labem - In the Ústí Region, the number of objects listed in the national cultural heritage register has risen to 13 this year. This spring, the state included the Church of St. Florian in the Ústí district of Krásné Březno in the list. Currently, according to the spokesperson of the regional office, Veronika Kindlová, there are 6578 objects in the Ústí Region that are protected as cultural monuments.
    According to Kindlová, the largest group of protected monuments consists of residential and agricultural buildings. There are a total of 2767, including 1612 houses, 447 cottages, and 164 farmsteads.
    Another large group among the protected objects consists of religious monuments. Kindlová stated that there are more than 2000 such monuments, including minor architecture, of which 343 are churches, 15 are monastic complexes, and 280 are chapels. The most common patron of these monuments is the Virgin Mary in 51 cases. About half as many are dedicated to St. Peter and Paul and St. Wenceslas. St. Nicholas is the patron of 17 churches, with one less dedicated to St. James and St. Martin. The state also protects 565 statues in the Ústí Region. Most often, in 169 cases, they represent St. John of Nepomuk. There are also 32 statues of the Virgin Mary, 24 of St. Florian, and 20 of St. Wenceslas.
    In the Ústí Region, heritage protectors also protect 46 castles, 108 chateaux, and 11 fortress. There are five urban conservation areas in Kadaň, Litoměřice, Terezín, Úštěk, and Žatec, as well as 17 urban heritage zones. Tourists can also find three village conservation areas in Rumburk, Starý Týn, Zubrnice, and 13 village heritage zones in the region.
