Plzeň - The UBX Plzeň company, backed by Austrian capital, has launched the construction of a hotel, residential, and administrative complex worth one billion crowns opposite the Pilsner Urquell brewery in Plzeň. The hotel, with 298 beds, is expected to be completed by autumn 2008, while two other multifunctional buildings are to be finished by the end of 2011. This is reported by today's Právo in its regional supplement.
"Hotel Angelo will be aimed at conference, business, and corporate clients as well as tourists," said Simona Kulhánková from UBX. The two-winged building will create a new corner between Nádražní Street and U Prazdroje Street. The building will adhere to the current trends of modern hotel architecture, with glass surfaces allowing views into the hotel interiors.
According to the contract with the city for the lease of land, construction was supposed to start last autumn. Due to problems with transport connections, the investor requested a postponement of the deadlines. However, they did not meet even the new ones.
The time for obtaining a valid building permit expired in April, and the UBX Plzeň company obtained it a few weeks later. A decision has not yet been made on whether they will receive a fifty-thousand crown fine, said councilor Vladimír Tichý.
