Petrovice - In Petrovice in the Ústí region, they have a church with a partially glazed roof. The town was inspired by Neratov in the Hradec Králové region, where they also solved the roofing through partial glazing. Repairs on the sacred monument in Petrovice are not yet finished; this year the town wants to secure a grant for the facade. This was stated by Mayor Andrea Kortanová today to ČTK.

"The roof had been collapsed since 1988, and around 2016, as part of the revitalization of the town center, both the square and the roof were renewed with grants," said Kortanová. According to her, the roofing cost about four million crowns. "A large part of the roof is not glazed; only the gable and two meters on each side are actually glazed," described the mayor. Later, the town hall had the church tower repaired for about 1.3 million crowns, with 400,000 crowns contributed by the Ústí region. This year, repairs to the outer plaster should also take place. "We applied for a grant, but we still don't know how much we will receive, but the budget for the facade is around two to three million crowns," the mayor said.

Despite the need for further modifications, social events are held in the church; for example, there have been several weddings and last farewells. The building also serves the community as a community center. "This is how it will continue to serve once the inner plaster, gallery, and floors, which are currently stone, are done," stated Kortanová. According to her, the total repairs will cost more than ten million crowns.

The atypically oriented Church of St. Nicholas in Petrovice has stood since 1793. During the Napoleonic Wars, it served as a hospital and a treatment facility, during which a large part of the furnishings disappeared. Throughout its existence, the temple has withstood the adverse effects of the mountain climate and has been damaged several times by hail and storms. The first defects on the roof appeared as early as the late 1950s, and in 1985 the church was definitively closed to the public. In the 1990s, there were also considerations of demolishing the church while only preserving its tower. Petrovice took over the temple in 2004 with the intention of repairing it and preserving it for future generations.
