L.B.P. (abbreviation for Little Black Peggy) is the artistic pseudonym of Czech singer Markéta Poulíčková, born on March 15, 1988, in Valtice. Since early childhood, she has been involved in music and plays these musical instruments: piano (8 years), flute (10 years), and guitar (2 years).
Prague - To support the construction of the new building of the National Library in Prague's Letná district, designed by Jan Kaplický, musicians from various genres will perform on Sunday. The concert titled I Want It in Letná will start at 7:00 PM at Prague's Lucerna Music Bar.
The concert is held under the patronage of the petition organizers for the library from among experts in the visual arts and architecture. The ticket will cost a symbolic 50 crowns. Tatiana Dacková informed ČTK on behalf of the event organizers.
On stage, performers such as Monika Načeva, Michal Pavlíček, Tatabojs, Leona Machálková, L.B.P., Pavel Bobek, Petr Janda, Vypsaná fixa, Peneři Strýčka Homeboye, Pavel Fajt, Jiří Dědeček, and several other singers and bands will gather.
The genre diversity of the performers, ranging from folk through pop to rock or hip hop, according to the organizers, demonstrates the extraordinary popularity that Jan Kaplický's design for the new National Library building has gained among the general public. However, many are also opposed to the design, particularly some politicians, especially Prague representatives from ODS, who started to question Kaplický's work, the results of the international competition, and the choice of location at the end of last year.
The concert organizers want to use this event, among other things, to remind why Kaplický's project should be realized and why precisely in Letná. According to them, it is excellent architecture reflecting the changing needs of people and new technologies that "allow building differently than in ancient Rome." The author, according to the event organizers, designed a perfectly organized library; the National Library urgently needs to acquire new space suitable for the demands of the information society of the 21st century.
They also remind that Jan Kaplický won an international competition, the results of which have been repeatedly confirmed by the leadership of the International Union of Architects. Disparagement of the jury and its decision is an international disgrace, the organizers believe.
After months of discussions and nearly a year after the results of the international architectural competition were published in Prague, the National Library team should announce at the end of February whether Kaplický's building will be constructed in Letná or not.
