The area addressed by the revitalization project of the historic center of Mělník
Mělník - A major reconstruction of the historic center of Mělník ended today, costing 182 million crowns. Part of the costs, 83 million, was covered by a grant from the European Union. During the work, which began in November two years ago and was ceremoniously completed today, two hectares of new surfaces and four kilometers of sewer lines were constructed. Workers also laid two kilometers of water pipes, one kilometer of gas pipelines, and installed half a kilometer of electrical cables, said mayor Miroslav Neumann (ODS) to ČTK. A page called Revitalization of the historic center of the city of Mělník with the subtitle Revitalization of the city, yes! But with quality!!! has already appeared on the community server Facebook. Visitors point out, for example, that some parts of the city have been repaired that are now being damaged by heavy cargo trucks. According to the mayor, however, the reconstruction was carried out without apparent faults. At least the current findings of the independent construction supervision confirmed this, according to him. Many opposition councilors and residents of the city criticized the outcome of the work. They claimed that the revitalization proceeded without a coherent plan and that the completed sections did not seem to have been repaired to a high standard. The mayor disagrees with this. However, he did not rule out that some hidden defects might be revealed over time, but according to him, the independent construction supervision has not pointed out anything like that so far.
