In Kuřim, the construction of a water park began today

Kuřim (Brno region) - The long-planned construction of an aquapark began today in Kuřim, in the Brno region. It will be created by reconstructing an outdated swimming pool and covered pool. The work will cost about 170 million Czech crowns, with 40 percent of the costs covered by subsidies from the European Union. The facility will welcome its first visitors in October 2010, said Kuřim councilor Drago Sukalovský to ČTK.
    Kuřim has about 10,000 inhabitants. The modern aquapark is intended to be used not only by its residents but also by swimming enthusiasts from Tišnov, the northern part of Brno, and the Blansko district.
    The Kuřim swimming pool was established 30 years ago. In many ways, it is outdated. Currently, it consists only of an outdoor and a covered pool.
    After modernization, people will be able to swim from one pool to another. Additionally, the facility will be expanded to include another large indoor relaxation pool. Plans include the construction of three children's pools and a slide.
    In the main building of the swimming pool, spaces for massages, aerobics, aromatherapy, steam baths with a sauna, and a solarium will be created.
    Many towns in southern Moravia have renovated their swimming pools in recent years. In 2005, the swimming pool in Brno at Kraví Hora was modernized for 200 million crowns. New aquaparks are being built in Vyškov, Znojmo, Blansko, and Hodonín. The facility in Kuřim is expected to be among the largest in the region.
