Brno - The selection of a new director for the Moravian Gallery in Brno is coming to an end, with only two candidates remaining in the competition. Originally, the Ministry of Culture received five applications, gradually the committee selected two suitable candidates. They are a man and a woman. The names have not yet been released by the Ministry of Culture. The final selection is in the hands of the Minister of Culture, Alena Hanáková.

"The final decision will be made in the near future by the Minister, who will decide whether the Moravian Gallery will have a director or a directoress in the future," spokesperson for the Ministry of Culture, Markéta Ševčíková, told ČTK today.
In January, the Ministry of Culture checked the formal requirements of the applications as part of the first round of the selection process. After that, all five candidates were invited to the second round. On Tuesday, personal interviews and a management test were held at the Ministry. Subsequently, the committee conducted scoring and based on the results proposed two candidates to the Minister.
The Moravian Gallery in Brno is the largest art museum in Moravia. It manages three buildings in the city center - the Museum of Applied Arts, the Pražák Palace, and the Governor's Palace. It also oversees the Jurkovič Villa in Brno-Žabovřesky and the birthplace of Josef Hoffmann in Brtnice near Jihlava.
Last year, the director of the largest art museum in Moravia, Marek Pokorný, voluntarily stepped down. He decided without external pressure, based on his own consideration. He had led the largest art museum in Moravia since 2004.
