Skanska Property Czech Republic today laid the cornerstone of the Corso Court office building in Prague 8 - Karlín. The completion of this project is scheduled for August 2015.
The ceremonial laying of the cornerstone took place next to the construction site of the Corso Court project in Prague 8 - Karlín. The ceremony and the cornerstone laying were attended by Jean Pierre Carniaux and Pablo Bofill from the architectural studio Ricardo Bofill, Taller de Arquitectura, the statutory director of Skanska a. s. Dan Ťok, and the president of Skanska Property Czech Republic Marie Passburg.
"In Karlín, the residential function of the development is ideally connected and complemented with work, specifically with administration. The administration is located in predominantly new buildings, which not only attract new tenants without problems but also co-create the modern image of Karlín. The quality architecture being created here is a significant contribution - although it is not always appreciated. Corso Court will be another prominent building that will contribute to the perception of Karlín as a dynamic yet pleasant district for living,” said Jiří Janků, mayor of Prague 8.
The completion of the seven-story building with approximately 17,000 m² of leaseable office space is planned for August 2015. Future tenants will appreciate the ample natural light thanks to the glass façade, the impressive atrium, terraces, and especially the beautiful garden designed for work and relaxation.
The Corso Court project comes from the workshop of the renowned Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill and combines glass, steel, and arch elements, which are typical features of Bofill's buildings. This is already the fifth realization of Ricardo Bofill in the Karlín district, ensuring that the project will fit perfectly into its surroundings.
"The Corso Court building, located in the heart of Karlín, will be a bridge between Prague's glorious past and its promising future. Its modern character sensitively contrasts with the industrial past of its surroundings. Without memories, there is no future, and thus I would like to thank the entire team, thanks to whose efforts Corso Court will become a new landmark of Prague and at the same time a reminder of its past,” said Jean Pierre Carniaux, partner at the architectural studio Ricardo Bofill, Taller de Arquitectura.
The first tenant, Skanska, will move into the Corso Court building in the fall of 2015. Approximately 50% of the building will become the headquarters for members of the Skanska group operating in the Czech market - Skanska a.s., Skanska Reality, and Skanska Property.
