Jablonec nad Nisou

Jablonec nad Nisou - A new football field will be built in Jablonec nad Nisou just about 30 meters from the apartment buildings, which displeases the people living in them. They are afraid of the noise and have submitted a petition against the sports facility costing more than 17 million crowns. The grassy field on Čelakovského street will be built by the city and will be used for training by the teams of FK Jablonec 97. This is reported in today’s Liberec supplement of Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD).

"About 80 to 90 percent of people from the apartment buildings do not want the field under their windows," said the author of the petition Petr Vinš to MfD. He himself has a small child at home and fears that the yelling from the field and the sounds of the ball will prevent him from sleeping. Vinš gathered 70 signatures against the construction of the field among the residents of the buildings in just one day.
The city will plant trees between the field and the houses to protect people from the noise. To build the grassy area, the city hall received a state grant of 15 million crowns and will contribute 2.3 million crowns itself. The field will begin to take shape later this year.
"The field has been discussed for a long time and the residents of the apartment buildings have only recently raised their concerns against it. It will be in an area that is currently full of bushes and mess. People could completely stop walking through here out of fear of being attacked," said city council member Petr Vostřák. The construction of the field will take place in accordance with the zoning plan.
