Prague - Last year, approximately 16 million square meters of insulation systems were produced in the Czech Republic, with a total value of about 16 billion crowns. However, with the rapid increase in the number of building walls protected against heat loss, cases of poorly executed work are also multiplying, said Milan Machatka from the Association for Building Insulation at a press conference today.
The representative of the association pointed out that poor quality of work is one of the main problems facing the industry today. "The cases are increasing, there are more and more of them," he stated.
According to the executive director of Therm, Miroslav Stark, it is often the elderly who suffer the most from poor workmanship. He directly labeled the practices of some companies as "theft," manifested, for example, by substituting building materials.
"There are companies that take the cheapest from the systems, which can, for example, start to fall off," noted Miloslav Koudela from the company Ekonomservis. According to Simon Palupčík from the Technical and Testing Institute for Construction (TZÚS), this results in additional costs for homeowners and users associated with repairs.
According to Machatka, the increasing bad experiences with work performed during insulation led to the adoption of a voluntary certification system for construction companies. Today, the first three companies received certificates of professional competence in building insulation from the hands of representatives of the association and TZÚS. However, there are a total of about 15 companies in the association that carry out insulation work.
