Cheb - The new transport terminal began full service for passengers in Cheb today. The terminal, costing 110 million crowns, allows for comfortable access from the train station to intercity buses and public transport. In the Karlovy Vary region, this is already the third transport terminal built by the region. The region received a grant for the construction from the Regional Operational Program Northwest. "The project was pre-financed by the Karlovy Vary region, and the city of Cheb contributed nine million crowns. After the terminals in Sokolov and Mariánské Lázně, this is the third transport hub in the region, where passengers will be able to choose between available modes of public transport in one location, thus saving time and avoiding problems with moving around the city," said Governor Josef Novotný. However, he noted that the reimbursement of the grant must wait for the resumption of the grant program, which is currently suspended due to errors in the projects. According to the Deputy Mayor of Cheb, Tomáš Linda (ODS), this represents a significant improvement in services for passengers. The terminal, thanks to its unique hexagonal design with bus stops along it, has also become one of the new architectural landmarks of the city. In the central building, people will find an information center, storage, refreshments, and there will also be operational facilities for drivers and dispatchers. The park modification of the existing mature greenery, supplemented with new planting, will in the coming years create a noise and dust barrier against the surrounding buildings. At the same time as the construction of the terminal, the reconstruction of Žižkova Street took place, including the intersection with Dukelská Street. The Cheb transport terminal has been in trial operation since December 9. In the future, a similar project in Karlovy Vary is expected to complement the trio of terminals in Sokolov, Mariánské Lázně, and Cheb.
