České Budějovice - After a five-month reconstruction, the indoor swimming pool in České Budějovice opened to the public today. The project, which cost approximately 11 million crowns, included the replacement of tiles and the construction of a whirlpool for three dozen people. However, the public cannot yet try out the whirlpool, which is expected to be completed in November. For České Budějovice, the nearly two-month period during which the city, with nearly 100,000 inhabitants, did not have a pool available comes to an end. The outdoor swimming pool ceased operations at the beginning of September.

"I understand that this was a significant limitation of operations. However, it should be noted that the last major reconstruction was almost 20 years ago and lasted more than two years at that time. This means that for nearly three years, the indoor pool was unavailable," said Tomáš Novák, director of the Sports Facility of the City of České Budějovice, to ČTK.

The indoor swimming pool was reconstructed in two phases. The first part, which involved, among other things, the insulation of the pool, took place last summer and also halted operations at the facility for five months. "There are two ways to approach property management. Our aim is to pursue ongoing repairs and prevent the pool from having to close again for years," Novák said.

The indoor swimming stadium in České Budějovice is visited by approximately 250,000 people annually. This year, the Ministry of Culture declared the facility a cultural monument. The uniqueness of the hall lies in its technically demanding construction of a suspended cable roof.
