Unipetrol will move from the center of Prague to Pankrác

Prague - The Prague offices of the petrochemical holding Unipetrol will move from the city center to the new Gemini building in Pankrác at the turn of February and March. A month later, the subsidiary of Unipetrol, Benzina, will also relocate from Holešovice to the same address. Unipetrol spokesperson Michaela Lagronová told ČTK today.
    Both companies have rented the fourth floor of the newly constructed Gemini building, where they will have a combination of closed offices and open administrative spaces. Gemini consists of two buildings facing each other, each with a distinctive eight-story entrance tower.
    In the past, many companies and state institutions have already relocated from buildings in central Prague to new spaces further from the city center. The new headquarters are usually located near metro stations or transport arteries, which is also the case with the new offices of Unipetrol.
    Among the most well-known cases of a company having a new headquarters built for itself is ČSOB. The bank sold buildings in central Prague for 3.2 billion crowns, and the new headquarters built by Skanska in Prague's Radlice cost it 2.7 billion. It moved in last April.
    A similar change is also planned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This year, it wants to offer its 11 buildings in central Prague to development companies in exchange for a new central headquarters on the outskirts of the city for about a thousand civil servants from the ministry's subordinate organizations.
    According to experts, the consolidation of employees at one address, along with saving additional costs, is the most common reason why companies have decided to change their headquarters.
