The Uničov Town Hall commissioned a study for the adjustments of the pre-railway station spaces

Uničov - The town hall in Uničov, in the Olomouc region, intends to modify the area in front of the train station. It has already selected a company that will prepare an urban study for 183,000 crowns. Among the four companies that applied in the tender, the city leadership was most convinced by the company Prodin Pardubice. The modifications will be carried out in connection with the Czech Railways project Live Stations, said the town hall spokesperson Marek Juráň to ČTK today.
    "The task of the designers will primarily be to assess the spatial possibilities of the initiative. They will evaluate, for example, the potential relocation of the bus station directly next to the train processing hall or propose routes for new service roads that would ensure the safe passage of passengers from the station," Juráň stated. According to him, the study is to be completed within two months. If the initiative is successfully realized, it will mean a fundamental change in the transport habits of the residents of Uničov. Therefore, before a final decision, the town hall will seek their opinions.
    According to Hana Bednářová from the ČD press department, the materials for the tender to select a partner for the revitalization of the Uničov railway station are currently being prepared. It is expected to be announced at the end of this year. In an optimistic scenario, work could start in 2008.
    As part of the Live Stations project, a comprehensive revitalization of railway stations is being carried out not only in large centers but also in towns with more than 10,000 inhabitants. The stations are to become modern and comfortable transport hubs. Czech Railways will cover the reconstruction costs, or the construction of new dispatch buildings, and the installation of information and security devices from its own resources. The areas in front of the station will be modified with city funds. However, the Uničov town hall does not yet know the costs.
