Pardubice - A four-star hotel will begin construction in Pardubice within two to three years, and will be an extension of the Ideon social center. It will support conference tourism in the city and offer 320 beds. It will have the shape of a wave, as it will be situated near the Chrudimka River. Petr Vašíček, the investor, stated this today to ČTK.
"The hotel will have 156 rooms, 320 beds, and 120 extra beds. It will be a hotel on the level of Hilton. The restaurant will be able to prepare up to 1,000 meals a day for conference participants," said Vašíček.
Currently, the project documentation for the zoning decision is being prepared for the construction. The zoning approval has been obtained recently. Preparations will take a longer time; Vašíček estimates that construction will start in two to three years. The hotel will be operated by a private company selected through a tender process.
"I will build the hotel with private funds and a loan, estimated at 250 to 300 million crowns; there are no subsidies for similar projects. Parking will be in the underground or in my parking garage in Karlovina," said Vašíček.
Vašíček was a long-term tenant of Ideon, and after years of delays, he succeeded in purchasing the social center from the city for 20 million crowns. The hotel will connect with the back part of the social center. The design was created by architect Milan Košař. "The hotel connects with Ideon and the swimming complex, which are quite large solid masses, so I conceived it as a softening of the space; the facade creates a wave. The curvature is quite extensive and doesn’t play a significant role in the interior," Košař told ČTK.
The hotel will connect with an atrium featuring a glass roof. The vestibule will be brightened as a result, and some rooms will have views of the atrium. One of its internal walls will be covered with plants, and there will be water features around it. The primary materials for the construction will be concrete, glass, and steel structures. The color scheme of the building has not yet been decided.
"We will rather keep the hotel in the color tone of the glass that runs across the entire facade, while the rest will likely remain in exposed concrete. Hence, in a more subdued form. We can complement the hotel with greenery, either vertically or using green roofs and terraces," said Košař.
The hotel is set to offer a relatively large number of beds. The neighboring Euro hotel has 63 beds and one apartment. In the city center stands a thirteen-story panel building, the Labe hotel, which has 630 beds. It opened in 1985. The Štika hotel is in a historic building and can accommodate 102 guests at a time.
