Pardubice - Pardubice plans to build a new center for leisure activities for approximately 800 million to 1 billion crowns. By renovating and expanding the current Ideon exhibition center and the Olšinky swimming complex, a multifunctional sports hall and spaces for cultural events should be created. EU fund subsidies can reach up to 85 percent of total costs, said Deputy Mayor Jaroslav Deml today. "Such a project might also be of interest to the European Investment Bank (EIB), which provides loans under favorable conditions," he stated. The city would need to invest around 200 million crowns into the complex, which would also offer accommodation and other attractions. "We will try to secure funding and prepare documentation for the zoning decision and possibly the building permit, so we are ready to apply for European funds," Deml noted. The project preparation alone for this undertaking will cost between 30 million and 40 million crowns. The necessary reconstruction of the indoor pool and the separate construction of the hall would, according to him, amount to 400 million to 500 million crowns. "However, the EU would not fund that, the EIB would not lend us the money, and we can expect up to 50 million crowns from the state budget," the deputy explained.
