Třešť - Třešť in the Jihlava region is beginning to select a company for the reconstruction of the former school on the square. The city wants to relocate the elementary art school (ZUŠ) to the building, which has been empty for about ten years, and offer its ground floor for commercial use. According to the public procurement bulletin, this construction has an estimated value of 62 million crowns excluding tax. The deadline for submitting bids ends on June 24.
If the city receives an economically advantageous offer and selects a construction company, construction work should begin in the second half of this year's holidays. The construction should then be completed by July 31, 2022, said the mayor Vladislav Hynk (KDU-ČSL) to ČTK.
The three-story historic building was vacated by the high school due to a decline in student numbers and was taken over by the city. It subsequently sought options for its use. Ultimately, it decided to relocate the elementary art school there, which is currently located on the floor of the town hall. "The elementary art school should utilize most of that building," the mayor confirmed. In the reconstructed building, the school will also gain a hall for organizing concerts and other smaller cultural events.
On the ground floor of the former school on T. G. Masaryk Square, there will be three units that the city plans to lease. According to the mayor, these could be shops or offices.
After the relocation of the ZUŠ, the vacant spaces in the town hall should serve the municipal office, which, for example, lacks a large meeting room for the council. Once work on the school reconstruction gets underway, the mayor also wants to discuss the possible relocation of the office of labor. "Because the offices they are currently using are not barrier-free and the space of the current elementary art school is barrier-free," he said.
The city, with a population of 5,700, has money in its reserves for the reconstruction of the former school. "We have applied for a grant from the Ministry for Regional Development; I do not know the result yet. If it works out, it would be a nice positive," said Hynk.
Construction is currently underway in several locations in Třešť. The region, in cooperation with the city, has been repairing the road bypass since last year. The mayor expects this road to be passable again at the beginning of the holidays. The city is constructing a bike path and building sewerage in the local parts of Buková and Salavice.
