TREBIČ - The overall regeneration of the largest housing estate in Třebíč, Hájek, will continue. The city hall is preparing a project and will apply for a state grant. The main construction work will concern Generála Svobody Street, and the modifications will also include the reconstruction of two playgrounds. According to city hall spokesperson Ivan Přibík, new spaces for household and separated waste will also be created. The purpose of the regeneration is the architectural enhancement of the nearly 30-year-old housing estate. In part of the street, new paved surfaces will be created, and urban greenery will be added. "In the unused heat exchanger boiler rooms, in cooperation with the Třebíč Heat Company, several dozen new parking spaces should be created," Přibík told reporters today. So far, the city has spent approximately 17 million crowns on revitalizing the housing estate. Almost half of this amount was covered by the state subsidy. "If the state does not support us, we will have to reduce the scope of work," stated Deputy Mayor Radek Číhal. The city plans the final phase of the regeneration of the Hájek housing estate for the year 2007. The modernization of the estate should cost a total of 60 million crowns. Afterwards, the city hall would like to proceed in a similar manner in other city housing estates. The Hájek neighborhood was created in the 1980s mainly for the needs of employees of the nuclear power plant in Dukovany. With 4,300 residents, it is the largest housing estate in Třebíč.
