The jokingly sounding name of the municipality Hnátnice is not an obstacle for its residents' sincere patriotism. Quite the opposite, the locals are very proud of their "Hnátu" and want to improve living in the municipality further. This year, therefore, they invited students from the Liberec School of Architecture and architecture students in Polish Opole to create designs for their municipality. The collaboration between the municipality and the two schools of architecture began with a three-day visit during which the students tried to learn as much as possible about Hnátnice. The needs of the municipality, with just under a thousand permanent residents, gave rise to more assignments for student projects. Czech first-year students focused on the modifications of public spaces spread throughout the municipality, and each of them designed a family house with three apartments. Polish students dedicated the semester to the urban design of residential buildings on the outskirts of the municipality. The joint work concluded with an outdoor exhibition in Hnátnice. Fifty students from the two schools presented a total of seventy designs. The exhibition sparked interest among the residents, and discussions about the projects stretched into the late hours of the night. The collaboration with the municipality was initiated by a graduate of FUA (one of the very first) architect Jiří Šafr, who created a master plan for the public spaces of Hnátnice.
