Štěchovice (near Prague) - The Štěchovice town hall is completing the construction of a multifunctional sports and relaxation center. It was created by renovating the area of the former swimming pool. It is set to open on May 1st. Clients of the social care institution from nearby Hvozd will also find work there, said Mayor Miloslava Vlková to ČTK.

The complex includes a space for inline skating, a tennis court, and a beach volleyball court. The building features a fitness center, sauna, massages, cosmetics, a children's corner, a bar, and a large community hall.
There will also be facilities for people with intellectual disabilities. A sheltered workshop is part of the building. Clients of the institution from Hvozd will package teas, stick labels, make beeswax candles, or tie-dye and paint scarves there. They will sell them in a small shop. The workshop will be operated by a civic association. Eight clients from the institution will help with garden maintenance or cleaning the facility.
The costs of renovating the complex exceeded 35 million crowns, and the municipality received an investment subsidy of 28 million crowns from the Ministry of Finance, with the rest covered by its own resources. From European funds, they also received a grant for partial coverage of the operating costs of the facility in the next two years.
The former swimming pool near the Štěchovice dam had not been in use for a long time. Due to its poor technical condition, it was closed after about five years of operation. Although the municipality managed to find an investor willing to undertake the costly renovation of the pool, it lost that opportunity after the floods in 2002. In recent years, the town hall has already opened a small sports area with a playground for ball games, swings, and climbing structures in the swimming pool area.
