Prague - The Building Authority rejected the criticized development of a gap site near the Holešovice Market in Prague 7. The planned complex of high-rise buildings between Jateční, Komunardů, and Tusarova streets disrupts the character of the area and damages its architectural and urban values, states the authority's decision. There have been discussions about construction in Holešovice for several years. The city council and some local residents disagree with it. The gap was created by demolishing lower buildings. For several years, a construction pit has been located in the immediate vicinity of a home with nursing services. The investor wants to build a complex of three eight-story buildings, which will have four additional underground floors and nearly 200 parking spaces. The Building Authority of Prague 6 made the decision on the permit. The builder, Bau-Invest Projekt, accused Prague 7 of bias, and the city hall therefore decided to let another authority decide, said local council spokesman Martin Vokuš. The Building Authority stated in its decision that it is not permissible for a 42-meter-high building to be constructed in the area. Additionally, the project does not meet the conditions for the development of the gap site, does not respect the character of the location, and is not suitable in terms of sunlight. For the same reason, the city council of Prague 7 rejected the project in June. "The height level in the area reaches a maximum height of 25 meters. The proposed project significantly exceeds this height level with its vertical arrangement and is therefore not in compliance with the prescribed ban on high-rise buildings. We demand adherence to the ban on high-rise buildings," the councilors stated in their position.
