Prague - The vestibules of Prague's metro stations will transform into concert stages on Wednesday, April 18. Throughout the day, musical groups and orchestras will perform in them. The event, called Tune Into the Metro, is organized by the Prague Public Transport Company in collaboration with the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and Higher Vocational School (VOŠ). The event will last from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Organizers promise live music at 14 metro stations. A total of 16 bands will perform, offering 13 different musical genres. Some orchestras and ensembles will visit several stations during the day. The musical performances will begin in the vestibule of Rajská zahrada, where a guitar duo led by composer and educator Milan Tesař will perform starting at 6:00 a.m. Their repertoire includes pieces from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Latin American rhythms. On the way to work, people will also enjoy a jazz quartet at Budějovická station, as well as a flute and saxophone quartet at Luka and Dejvická stations. At Kobylisy station, interested parties can listen to folk music performed by a brass ensemble starting at 11:00 a.m., while Vltavská station will host the Transport Company Choir from 6:00 p.m. In Florenc station, a string orchestra will alternate throughout the day with musical melodies, big bands from the Conservatory and Jaroslav Ježek VOŠ, and the rock trio Excite, which will present not only their own compositions but also songs by Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers starting at 8:00 p.m. The program will culminate at transfer stations in the city center. At Můstek in the vestibule of line A, the all-girl band Tritonus Priest, which combines elements of rock, jazz, pop, world music, and electronic music, will perform starting at 7:00 p.m. The five-member band Nano Illusion, featuring singer Marta Kloučková, will take the stage at Museum station from 9:00 p.m., and an hour later, the program will conclude at Můstek station on line B with the ensemble Trumpet Q, which plays swing and funky pieces.
