Prague - The new station on line A of the Prague metro in the Hostivař depot is expected to open at the end of May. The station is essentially finished on the inside. Workers are currently mainly working outside, building a park-and-ride lot, a bus terminal, and access roads, said Tomáš Jílek, director of the Public Transport Company of the Capital City of Prague, to reporters today.

According to plans, the station will be put into operation for passengers on Saturday, May 27. Its official opening will take place a day earlier. The company intends to make changes in the connecting transportation with the nationwide changes in timetables on Sunday, May 28, Jílek stated.
The construction of the station began last year and is reportedly going to cost around 850 million crowns. According to Jílek, work outside was somewhat slowed down by this year's harsh winter.
The park-and-ride lot for several hundred cars will mainly serve drivers from Central Bohemia, who currently travel to the Skalka station. There is only industrial development in the vicinity of the depot. "It's a place where it doesn't matter if hundreds of cars come, which is different from Skalka," said Radovan Šteiner (ODS), the transportation councilor, earlier.
Most buses that currently go to Skalka will also terminate at the new station. The Hostivař depot will mainly be the terminus for lines from residential areas in Prague 15.
