The controversial construction of a house in Prague 9 is not allowed to continue for now

Prague - The disputed construction of an apartment building on Na Vyhlídce Street in Prague 9 must not continue for now. The Ministry for Local Development confirmed the decision of the municipality, which last year annulled the building permit. Zdenka Lebedová from the Association of Nature and Landscape Protectors, which criticizes the construction, informed ČTK about this today.
The building is nearly completed, but construction work has now been halted. The building authority of Prague 9 has already initiated a new approval process. The building is likely to be completed. It complies with the valid land-use plan and the city regulation on construction requirements, said Václav Vaněk, head of the building office of the Vysočany municipal office, to ČTK today.
The association is primarily troubled by the fact that some trees in the area had to be cut down due to the new apartment building. The investor has carried out the intervention without permission. According to earlier information from the municipality, they were fined and will have to plant new trees. Neighbors are also protesting against the new building being too close to their home and having more floors than stated in the original permit.
"It is indisputable that this construction has resulted in serious ecological damage. Mature trees considered significant in the development were sacrificed for the construction," stated Lebedová today. According to her, the rights of the residents of the neighboring building were also violated, as their quality of living reportedly decreased and the lighting of their apartments worsened.
According to Vaněk, the ministry pointed out some deficiencies in the approval process of the Prague 9 building office. "They were not of such a serious nature," said the head. A new zoning procedure has already been initiated, and the investor will still have to obtain a building permit.
