Ústí nad Labem - The revitalization of the City Orchard park in the center of Ústí nad Labem will cost 77.2 million crowns. With this lowest bid, the Ústí company SKD Průmstav - constructions won the public competition, and the city council awarded the contract to them. The reconstruction of the park is expected to begin this October and could be completed in September of the following year, according to city spokesman Milan Knotek. According to Deputy Mayor Jan Řeřicha, the essence of the revitalization of the City Orchard is the transformation into a modern urban park and an active recreational space for not only the older generation but also the younger one. The project includes a complete reconstruction of all paths, some of which will be newly routed. Some pathways will be partially supplemented with a track surface primarily for running. In the lower part of the park, paths for rollerblading and skateboarding are proposed. "The southern part of the park with a circular area, fountain, and summer stage will feature a children's playground. The center of the northern part will be a pond complemented by a stone pathway," said Deputy Mayor Zuzana Kailová. The park will also feature a large number of benches. Public restrooms will be renovated, as will the amphitheater, which, according to Kailová, can serve for theatrical and musical performances as well as lectures from the Ústí university. The revitalization plan includes the establishment of three new entrances to the park. One will be from the intersection of Palachova and Sadová streets in the northern part, another from Masaryk Street towards the children's area and the bridge before the Klíšský stream. The third entrance from Šaldova Street will be a crossing over the heating pipeline. This belongs to the heating company, which does not want to bury it underground. The construction will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will take place in October and November. It includes preparatory work, demolition of paved areas, disassembly of existing park equipment, and the felling of trees. The second phase, starting in December, will involve laying technical infrastructure networks, building roads, constructing the bridge and pond, fountains, and installing play elements.
