Rakovnik - Rakovník continues with the preparation of a complete renovation of the central Husovo Square. Work on the project is expected to begin in the first half of this year. Its completion will take approximately a year. The restoration plan is partially defined by a study conducted last year. Parking spaces will be reduced, but green areas will not. A new entrance to the square will also be created. The project will clarify some modifications, such as the design of the water feature, informed Rakovník city hall spokesperson Kateřina Hradilová in a press release.

"We expect that the offers for the preparation of project documentation could range up to 3.5 million crowns," Hradilová stated. After the project's completion, the city will apply for a building permit. The costs of the renewal are estimated to exceed 200 million crowns, part of which the city intends to cover from a European grant focused on green infrastructure for municipalities and towns.

The renovation of the square will involve engineering networks, especially sewage, public lighting, laying new granite paving on pedestrian and vehicle areas, renewing greenery, as well as elements like benches, bins, and chargers for electric cars. A space designated for cultural events is to be created in front of the town hall, and a quiet zone near the church is intended mainly for relaxation or intimate events. There will be a slight reduction in parking spaces. The city will restore greenery, but overall, grassy and flower areas will slightly increase, as will the number of mature trees.

The previously impassable Poštovní Street is to become accessible to the square. A safe turnaround point for cars is currently lacking at its end, and there is insufficient space. Consequently, drivers reverse into the intersection with Na Sekyře Street, creating dangerous traffic situations. Opening up to the square will therefore enhance safety. This will create a third entrance to the square, which should alleviate traffic mainly on Palackého Street.
