Olomouc - The Přerov city council will allow the Chomutov-based company Miramart, which intends to demolish the Chemoprojekt building on Trávník Street and build a Lidl store in its place, to access its property through city-owned land. According to the Přerov Daily, it is now certain that a new market will be established in the area, despite protests and a petition from citizens. Residents nearby are unhappy that the city hall did not heed their objections.

"The subject of the contract will be the establishment of a right of access to the land and the placement of a building - connecting road to the existing Chemoprojekt building from 17. listopadu Street," confirmed the city's lawyer, Anna Slívová. The contract will also include an agreement that Lidl will be entitled to enter into the rights and obligations under the contract. Miramart wants to sign the contract by the end of this year.
There has been a wave of discontent in Přerov against the demolition of the preserved building. Town residents began signing a petition, successfully gathering a total of a thousand signatures. "It's outrageous. I couldn't believe that our requests would go unheard by the city," said one of the petitioners. Communist councilor Břetislav Passinger considers the establishment of a connecting road from 17. listopadu Street advantageous for Lidl and disadvantageous for citizens. "The biggest problem in Přerov is resolving the traffic situation. And this poor decision will make that situation even worse. Once again, money and the arrogance of power will prevail over the interests of the citizens," the councilor stated.
