Prague - The city hall of Prague 16 is investing 15 million crowns into the renovation of buildings in the Radotín housing estate. The Czech News Agency (ČTK) was informed by the spokesperson of Prague 16, Jana Hejrová. The Radotín city hall has now allowed the replacement of the heating and hot water supply systems in the buildings.
The first part of the housing estate was built in the 1960s. "As it later turned out, in some cases, from defective construction components that may affect the health of the apartment tenants, we consider these investments necessary," stated the mayor of Prague 16, Karel Hanzlík.
Workers are carrying out what is called decentralization of heating in the buildings. "The preparation of water for individual objects is moved closer to the end users; instead of one central heat exchanger, 12 transfer stations have been installed. These can respond far better to fluctuating demands in each building," the spokesperson said. Each apartment will no longer experience different pressure and water temperature.
The reconnection of hot water supplies will depend, according to the spokesperson, on when Prague Waterworks and Sewerage will replace the current water meters with larger ones. "It should be done by the end of October," she added.
In September, the insulation of the last municipal apartment buildings was completed. The contractor also insulated the basements of the buildings and repaired the roofs.
