Prostějov is considering the construction of a new community sports center

The Community House is coming to an end.

Prostějov - The Prostějov city hall is considering the construction of a new community-sports center, which is to be built in the area of the former riding barracks. Therefore, the city council will approach four architectural firms to present a design for the center and an urban planning solution for this location. Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Fišer (ČSSD) stated this to ČTK.
     The new multifunctional center is to replace the outdated Community House and expand the possibilities for organizing cultural, social, and sports events in Prostějov. The city is currently preparing the assignment for the architectural competition. "However, the first step is precisely the demand for the completion of design proposals for the conceptual study, that is, a sketch of the solution of the building and its placement in the location. The conceptual studies will be the basis for preparing the building program for the announcement of the architectural competition," Fišer stated.
     Prostějov will allocate 200,000 crowns for the preparation of studies. "The drafters will have approximately one month from the announcement to create the conceptual studies. Afterward, the competition will be evaluated," Fišer noted.
     In the context of preparing the construction of the new multifunctional center, the city is investigating whether it can obtain subsidies for this project. "We know that there are subsidies available for the new use of so-called brownfields, that is, abandoned areas with remnants of past activities. The riding barracks could meet the requirements of this program," Fišer believes.
