České Budějovice - Pavilion T at the Czech Budějovice Exhibition Grounds, wastewater treatment plant in Třeboň, reconstruction of the square in Bechyně and the Clarion hotel in České Budějovice, road bridge in Benešov nad Černou, and revitalization of the canoeing area in Český Vrbné have today been included among the prestigious buildings in South Bohemia at the seventh biennale of the PRESTA competition 2010-2012. Its aim is to present contemporary construction and support its development, said today to ČTK the chairman of the jury, Michael Smola from the Association of Entrepreneurs in Construction. In the seventh edition of the competition, organized by the Czech Association of Civil Engineers, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction, the Association of Entrepreneurs in Construction, and the South Bohemia Region, 46 completed buildings were submitted. Awards are given every two years in five categories. The most, 18 buildings, were submitted in the category of Civic and Industrial Buildings. The least in the category of Family Houses and Residential Buildings - only one. This year, the Inspira award was also granted - for inspiring solutions in the development of municipalities. It was awarded for the adaptation of historical buildings for the National Museum of Photography and the tapestry workshop in Jindřichův Hradec. The PRESTA title for the new Pavilion T was awarded to the authors for significant architectural contribution. The new multifunctional building meets the requirements for both exhibitions and the use of the facility for sports and social events with its location and shape. The jury was attracted by the latest findings and progressive technologies used in the wastewater treatment plant in Třeboň. The harmonious reconstruction of T.G.M. Square in Bechyně is noted by the jury for documenting archaeological finds across the entire area and interesting use of various types and colors of pavements. The bridge in Benešov nad Černou received an award from the jury for technically successful solution of the complex task of the inclined bridge and for a well-executed reinforced concrete structure. The jury also awarded special prizes to other unique buildings. For instance, for the sensitive reconstruction of Krčín's house in Český Krumlov, for the navigation lock on the Vltava River in Český Vrbné, for the Zanádražní communication, and for the footbridge near the Winter Stadium in the regional city. Also recognized was the bridge over the overflow of the Bezdrev pond, the Tree Top Walkway at Lipno, the Pouzar Hockey Center, and the bridge over the Záhvozdecký Stream in the military district of Boletice.
