Přelouč (Pardubice Region) - In the coming years, the people of Přelouč in the Pardubice Region may look forward to a bus station. The town hall will begin construction only if it receives European funding. The town council will decide on a bus station, which has been lacking for many years, on Thursday, said Přelouč mayor Irena Burešová to ČTK today.

"It is just awful how people travel. They wait in the rain, in the wind, there are no benches. Buses in the city center cause excessive noise and dust," Burešová stated, adding that the new bus station will meet European technical standards, with features such as boarding and alighting islands and waiting rooms.
The station has long been temporarily replaced by spaces in the historic center at Pernštýnské náměstí, which do not fully comply with standards. According to Burešová, the councilors will likely postpone the project on Thursday until regional European programs are announced, she said. As stated by Roman Línek, the deputy governor of the Pardubice Region, the region could announce the first calls at the turn of November and December.
In Přelouč, approximately 200 lines operate daily, used by about a thousand people. In recent years, more people have started commuting to the eight-and-a-half-thousand-strong town for work. The largest employer in the Přelouč region is the automobile lock manufacturer Kiekert.
The construction of the station near the overpass heading towards Lázně Bohdaneč will move buses out of the city center. The project, costing 20 million crowns, includes eight boarding spots, one alighting spot, and four layover areas. The complex will feature 12 parking spaces for cars, a dispatch building, waiting rooms, benches, and greenery.
