Přelouč wants to obtain a grant for a new municipal library

Přelouč – Přelouč will apparently request a grant for a new city library from the Integrated Territorial Investment (ITI) program of the Hradec Králové and Pardubice agglomeration only in the next programming period. Other plans that the city had are probably not going to meet the program's requirements, said mayor Irena Burešová (ODS) to ČTK. The councilors selected the design of the future library last spring, and it is expected to cost around 60 million crowns.

"In Přelouč, there is a city library, even though it serves a regional function for other municipalities, in unsatisfactory conditions in the building of the Savings Bank. It does not meet the basic requirement, which is barrier-free access," Burešová stated. The facility is also intended to serve as a community center with spaces for meetings and educational activities.

The new building is to be built in the square, where the city plans to demolish the corner house No. 27 from 1923. The building was purchased by the Civic Savings Bank in the 1920s and its employees lived in the two-story building. Later, it served as a dormitory for an agricultural school or offices.

The library will be created according to the study by architect Soňa Formanová. She proposed a building with vertical and horizontal slats surrounding its front. The library will have two entrances, with three stories in one section and four in another, a flat roof, and outdoor terraces and a courtyard for events. The building will feature an atrium with an information desk and a cloakroom, as well as a hall for 100 people, while study rooms, reading rooms, lending areas for adults and children, and offices for librarians will be situated on the upper floors.

Přelouč planned to build part of the sewage network with the help of ITI, but the program will likely prioritize only the construction of water supply systems. Similarly, it will apparently not be possible to apply for grants for cycling paths or school classrooms.

In the current programming period, Přelouč received a grant from the ITI program for a public transport transfer terminal.
