Prague - The Prague 5 municipality plans to start the reconstruction of the castle in Hlubočepy, known as Raudnitzův dům, into a retirement home at the end of this year. This was stated by the spokesperson of the district, Markéta Drešlová, in response to a query from ČTK. The renovated historic site is expected to have 24 apartments and the reconstruction will cost approximately 119 million koruna.

According to the spokesperson, the reconstruction of the classicist castle should be completed by the beginning of 2021. The building will include seven apartments with a layout of 2+kk and 17 studio apartments. The original estimated cost was 85 million koruna, but the bid came in nearly 34 million higher. "The increase in price compared to the estimated cost is mainly due to the situation in the construction market and the consequent significant rise in construction work prices. The Prague 5 municipality has the financial resources for the project and has also received 35 million koruna for this project from the budget of the capital city of Prague," the spokesperson stated.

According to the approved budget, Prague 5 will operate this year with revenues of 814.4 million and expenses of 1.176 billion koruna. The district intends to balance most of the deficit from savings. The municipal leadership plans to spend 428.2 million koruna on investments. The largest single investment this year is set to be the extension of a new pavilion for the Waldorf school in Jinonicích, which will cost 36.9 million koruna. This year, 35 million is allocated for the reconstruction of Raudnitzův dům.
