Prague - Prague 4 wants to build a lookout tower in the Central Park in Pankrác. This year, an architectural competition will be announced to select the design of the tower. The mayor of Prague 4, Pavel Horálek (ODS), told reporters today. The lookout tower is to be built near the Na půl cesty café. The location was chosen by the city hall because, according to Horálek, one can see all the way to Prague Castle from there. "We would like the lookout tower to be combined with play elements as well. I can imagine that a slide would lead from the first floor," noted Horálek. In the architectural competition, the city hall will select several of the best designs from which people will then choose. The city hall will also build restrooms in the park by June. Another plan by the city hall is, according to Horálek, to build a larger playground. However, this intention is facing complicated ownership relations, as part of the land in the park still belongs to private owners. "We want to have the park ready in two years, but there are still unresolved ownership relations. We are therefore negotiating intensively with the owners," the mayor stated. The city hall also wants to discuss the possible placement of sculptures with the people who visit the park. "Some people mourn the bronze figurine of a doe that was stolen some time ago," said Horálek. According to Horálek, the placement of animal sculptures could revitalize the park.
