Prague - The Prague 2 Municipality will repair the brick slope and adjacent walls under the Nusle Bridge in Folimanka Park. The municipality has selected a contractor; the work, costing approximately 15.5 million crowns including VAT, will be carried out by the company Opreko. The work is expected to start this year. The spokesperson for the city district, Andrea Zoulová, informed ČTK about this today. Prague 2 is also planning to restore the fountain called Great Cascade in the park.

"We are revitalizing parks and green nooks so that citizens and visitors enjoy spending time there," stated the mayor of Prague 2, Jan Korseska (ODS). The repair includes the replacement of the brick paving of the slope and the rebuilding of the existing adjacent walls under the Nusle Bridge. The work will cost approximately 15.5 million crowns, with part of the costs covered by the Prague City Hall.

"By repairing the adjacent brick slope and the planned reconstruction of the Great Cascade, we will certainly please many old-timers who are waiting for the return of the bronze group sculpture of Čenda and Pepina by the Czech sculptor Bohumil Zemánek," Korseska said. The municipality is currently preparing project documentation for the reconstruction of the so-called Great Cascade, which, according to the spokesperson, used to be a landmark of Folimanka Park. In the future, other artistic elements may also return, such as the bronze sculpture Grotesque in the shape of a blooming flower by Čestmír Mudruňky.

According to the mayor, Folimanka Park is among the most visited green areas in the city district. According to the municipality, people come there not only for recreation but also for sports. In 2022, the city district opened the leisure area Jammertal there, where the sculpture of a skateboarder was also returned. In the same year, a pedestrian connection was completed between the Albertov Steps and the Ztracenka Park.

The city district has been long-term investing in connecting Folimanka with other locations, such as the Albertov Slopes or the Bastion. According to representatives of the municipality, the idea of broader connectivity arose as early as 2007. The municipality is collaborating on the projects with the capital city, Charles University, and heritage conservationists.
