Prague - The City Hall of Prague 2 will not be removing the R2-D2 robot from Star Wars, which someone created from a vent of the underground bunker at Folimanka. Lenka Prokopová, spokesperson for Prague 2, informed ČTK. The Folimanka bunker was built in the late 1950s and early 1960s as one of the largest in Prague. The city hall regularly opens it to the public. In the future, there could be legal areas for so-called street art on the pillars of the nearby Nusle Bridge.

"We do not support illegal spraying, but we like this decoration of the unsightly shaft. Where else should a robot stand if not in a district so connected with the author of this term, Karel Čapek? The robot at Folimanka will surely please not only Star Wars fans. But that does not mean we are easing up in the fight against sprayers. We will never tolerate vandalism," said the mayor of Prague 2, Jana Černochová (ODS).

The second city district organizes events for the public in the bunker, such as the event "Live the Bunker" the weekend before last, where people could try street art under the Nusle Bridge. "We currently do not have legal areas for sprayers in Prague 2. Perhaps they will eventually be found on the pillars of the renovated Nusle Bridge. And I believe that very nice images could be created there," Černochová stated. The biggest problems with sprayers are on the facades of buildings. The cleanup of illegal spray creations costs Prague 2 around two million korunas annually.

The bunker is located on Pod Karlovem street and has an area of 1332 square meters. It has armored doors, is lit, heated, and oxygenated by overpressure. It has two 125-meter-long corridors that are connected by shorter corridors. In case of an emergency, up to 1300 people could fit there, sitting on benches placed along the walls of the corridors. It was expected that the supplies in the bunker would allow people to survive for 72 hours.

In the capital city, there are nearly 800 underground bunkers, each with different owners, including ministries, housing cooperatives, private companies, and the city of Prague. There are ten civil protection bunkers comparable in capacity to the Folimanka bunker in Prague. The largest bunker in the metropolitan area is located on Bryksova street in Prague 4 and can accommodate 2800 people.
