Prague - Prague 12 wants to build apartments for young families with children or individuals in social or financial distress. The plan also includes measures to mitigate the effects of climate change and the development of waste management. This stems from the strategic development plan of the district for the period 2020 to 2026, which was approved by the council of Prague 12. The document will be further evaluated by the Modřany municipal council.
"The strategic development plan for the district of Prague 12 for the period 2020 to 2026 is one of the fundamental development documents of the district, expressing the anticipated development of the district until 2026," the document states.
With the grant support of the capital city, Prague 12 aims to build approximately 40 small apartments for young families with children or people in distress by 2022. In the following years, affordable apartments for seniors or low-income families are expected to be constructed, costing about 300 million crowns.
The district plans to develop a concept for managing its property. Potential future uses of identified land might include sports facilities, starter and social apartments, or ice rinks. The town hall also intends to build a multifunctional sports hall at an estimated cost of 100 million crowns. However, its realization is, among other things, conditional on obtaining a grant.
According to the plan, the Modřany town hall will plant new orchards mainly with old fruit tree varieties and restore lost field paths, tree rows, hedges, and groves. The town hall aims to collaborate with the capital city or developers to revitalize water areas within the district and to create new ones. In the coming years, waste management is expected to develop in an ecological direction. Citizens may look forward to being assigned composters, an increase in the number of waste containers and their more frequent collections, or the establishment of a composting facility costing eight million crowns. These measures aim to minimize climate change.
Buildings owned by Prague 12 should also be more environmentally friendly in the future. Both existing and new buildings are to be equipped with storage tanks, green roofs, and walls. The costs of these measures are estimated by the town hall at about 50 million crowns and will be implemented if grants for the projects are secured.
According to the strategic plan, Prague 12 also plans to negotiate with developers about their participation in the development of the district's infrastructure or to support the creation of job opportunities with new administrative operations in its area. It aims to take advantage of the construction of metro line D, which will ensure better transport accessibility for Modřany residents.
Prague 12 includes the cadastral areas of Cholupice, Kamýk, Komořany, Modřany, and Točná. It is located in the municipal district of Prague 4 and is situated in the south of the capital city on the right bank of the Vltava River. By area, Prague 12 ranks among the largest districts, housing about 57,000 residents.
