According to the ČSSD, the amendment to the building law will disrupt the landscape

Prague - The amendment to the building law will allow people to build high fences, which the ČSSD claims will disrupt the landscape. Until now, building fences over 1.8 meters required a construction permit. This was stated today at a press conference by shadow Minister of the Environment Petr Petržílek. The Ministry for Regional Development disagrees with this opinion; according to them, every fence construction must continue to be in accordance with the zoning decision.
    According to the MMR, the change consists in that it is not necessary to announce the construction of a fence to the building office, and the builder can carry it out independently.
    The government approved the amendment at its meeting in mid-July. Minister for Regional Development Jiří Čunek (KDU-ČSL) now wants to propose its discussion to the deputies in an expedited procedure. The regulation could then take effect at the end of this year.
    The ČSSD also considers the introduction of joint building permits problematic. According to the Social Democrats, under the new regulations, specialized authorities will not be able to express their opinions on the construction. According to Petržílek, it may happen, for example, that the building office will approve the construction instead of the water management office, which was previously part of the approval process. However, the MMR rejects the criticism from the Social Democrats.
    "Often, in addition to the main construction, which requires the issuance of a building permit, the builder intends to carry out other constructions for which it is sufficient to notify the building office, such as the construction of a garage. In such a case, today the building office assesses each construction separately, which is unnecessarily complicated. The amendment proposes that the building office discuss the constructions together," explained the MMR. The approval of groups of constructions is also supported by building offices.
    The new building law was supposed to simplify the administration for builders by expanding the number of minor constructions for which only a notification of the construction permit is needed. Experts have previously criticized that the law has not reduced the workload for people or offices and that it will be necessary to amend it.
