PAVILION 1 presents an interactive structure in public space, dedicated to the design and realization of a two-part architectural workshop led by architects Saman Saffarian* and Galo Moncayo-Asan**. The workshop will focus on adaptive strategies - designing, projecting, and managing reactive architectural systems. Its first part - research and design - (Exploration) will take place from 3rd to 6th October and will conclude with a one-day symposium featuring international experts. The second realization part of the workshop (Application) will take place in the spring of 2017.
Tutors:
*Saman Saffarian is an architect, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at VUT in Brno and the Institute of Architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. He worked at Zaha Hadid Architects in London and at the Computation and Design (co|de) group there. He currently works academically at the Institute of Structural Design (ITKE) in Stuttgart, where he researches adaptable facades.
**Galo Moncayo-Asan focuses on artistic installations and architecture. He teaches at the Institute of Architecture - Department of Energy Design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Department of Experimental Architecture at the University of Innsbruck. He has exhibited in the United States, Germany, Mexico, Austria, Spain, and Ecuador. Curators: Jakub Kopec, Soňa Borodáčová

Organizer: 4AM/Forum for Architecture and Media is a civic association and an open platform for experimental approaches and activities related to architecture, urbanism, public space, contemporary art, and new media art. Within this interdisciplinary framework, current cultural and social phenomena and related problems and questions are articulated and critically examined through open discussions, international workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and events in public space with the participation of specialists and the wider public.
