The preservationists will try to save the Municipal Baths in Teplice

Ústí nad Labem - Heritage conservationists will attempt to save the Art Nouveau building of the Municipal Baths in Teplice, which is a cultural monument. They were inspired by the fate of the historical association house in Přerov nicknamed Komuna, which the new Minister of Culture Václav Jehlička is currently trying to save. This is reported by today's edition of the Teplický deník.
    The Municipal Baths, already in a state of emergency, were purchased from a former private owner by Teplice entrepreneur Jaroslav Třešňák. According to the newspaper, he is now waiting for the Ministry of Culture to grant him its approval so he can demolish the building.
    Stanislav Flesar, head of the department for immovable monuments at the Ústí branch of the National Heritage Institute, intends to appeal to the Ministry of Culture regarding the rescue of the bath building through the relevant official of the Teplice municipality, according to the newspaper.
    Flesar told the paper that there are many more historically valuable buildings in northern Bohemia than the Přerov Komuna. He recalled the fate of the Trnovany brewery, from which the Ministry of Culture distanced itself. According to him, the Teplice Municipal Baths will end up similarly: entrepreneur Třešňák will wait until the building collapses, and the ministry will be forced to agree to its demolition, the newspaper reported.
    Last year, Třešňák told Mladá fronta Dnes that as the owner, he is responsible for this property. According to him, the building is in a state of emergency. He does not want to allow any accidents to happen. Thus, the demolition of the building is, in his opinion, inevitable. He would then build an entirely new structure on the site of the baths.
