Lanškroun has completed a new architectural study for the expansion of the Senior Home

Lanškroun – Lanškroun in the Orlickoústecko region has completed a new architectural study for the expansion of the Senior Home. It respects the original architectural design of the building while allowing for the continuation of project preparation. The architect who designed the original building of Social Services Lanškroun disagreed with the earlier concept. The city is presenting the public with the first visualizations of the proposed solution. The study will serve as a basis for the preparation of project documentation.

The proposed extension will increase the capacity of the Senior Home and simultaneously provide new spaces for the provision of social services. The proposal also includes rentable space for rehabilitation services, a therapeutic garden, and modern energy-saving technologies.

The new building is designed between the existing building and the transformer station to sensitively connect with the original architectural solution and preserve the character of the entire complex. The dominant feature of the proposal is a central atrium, which will connect the individual floors and bring more daylight and greenery into the building.

The design includes the construction of 30 new beds for the Senior Home, eight beds for respite care services, and six municipal apartments on the top floor of the building. The expansion will increase the facility's capacity and also improve the conditions for providing residential social services and the daily care of seniors.

The new architectural study was prepared by the studio Čtyřstěn architects, which is among the leading Czech architectural firms. It is, among other things, the author of the House for Julia, the first children's hospice in the Czech Republic. The project received the Czech Architecture Award, the Public Award, and the Award of the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The Senior Home in Lanškroun also participated in the preparation of the proposal.

According to Mayor Radim Vetchý (Lanškroun Forum), the demand for residential social services has been growing steadily. Social Services Lanškroun has 53 beds in a home with a special regime, for clients with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia, 25 beds in the Senior Home, and five beds in respite care services.
