Olomouc - The spaces of the Olomouc Gallery G on Horní náměstí have been occupied by the works of 12 foreign artists. Their paintings, drawings, and collages will be presented there until the beginning of September by international members of the Union of Visual Artists of Olomouc. Art lovers can get acquainted with the works of authors from Australia, the USA, Italy, and Austria, for example. The opening of the exhibition titled Interama 012 will take place on August 8, with the majority of the exhibitors participating.

"The Association of Visual Artists of Olomouc has 15 foreign members, including authors from Canada, the USA, Australia, Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Great Britain. This exhibition is the first of its kind with this thematic focus," said exhibition curator Jiří Hastík to reporters today.
The union has a total of one hundred members and is one of the largest visual arts associations in the country. Foreign authors joined the union for various reasons. According to representatives of the association, this was, for example, when they encountered its exhibitions or participated in joint symposiums. "A number of memberships were also established based on personal contacts or during our exhibitions abroad," Hastík added.
The exhibition presents the individual stylistic positions of the exhibiting authors. Many works reflect their personal stories. For example, the paintings of Tom Besson from the USA bear traces of his stay in Valašsko, where the Texan comes every year to visit his family. Among the authors, however, visitors to the exhibition will also find artists with purely Czech names, highlighting their Czech roots. Some foreigners have personal ties to Olomouc; for example, Michael Esson from Britain married in the city. "About seventy works can be seen at the exhibition," added the curator.
The Union of Visual Artists of Olomouc has a history of over twenty years. It brings together visual artists, theorists, and architects from Central Moravia, as well as from other regions of the Czech Republic and abroad. Its largest member group consists of painters and graphic artists, but it also represents photographers and sculptors. Notable members of the union include academic painter Marek Trizuljak, ceramicist Marta Lipusová, actor, painter, and native of Olomouc Jan Kanyza, and academic sculptor Karel Hořínek.
