Experts have praised the best construction achievements in the Vysočina region

Žďár nad Sázavou - Experts today awarded the best construction achievements in the Vysočina region for the past two years. The title of Prestigious Building of Vysočina 2006 was awarded to the new kindergarten building in Jihlava, the reconstruction of the historical town hall in Jihlava, and the gymnasium in Ledeč nad Sázavou. Among industrial buildings, the jury favored the Arrow company's factory, and among transport constructions, the new road to the Jihlava industrial zone drew attention.
    A record 29 buildings were submitted to this year's fifth edition of the regional competition. It included a student competition for a project for a senior citizens' home, Martin Pertl from the organizing Construction Association of Vysočina informed ČTK today. The results were announced at the City Theater in Žďár nad Sázavou.
    The Jihlava kindergarten Mozaika took first place among community facilities. The building, designed for 100 children, was built by the city of Jihlava. The title for sports buildings went to the gymnasium in Ledeč nad Sázavou, which serves secondary schools as well as the public. It was built for 47 million crowns by the region in collaboration with the city.
    The manufacturer of medical technology Arrow built its factory in Žďár nad Sázavou. The facility, which has a capacity of up to 600 jobs, cost nearly 700 million, including equipment. The jury appreciated its colorful design, the use of materials, and the execution of details.
    The road to the Jihlava industrial zone, costing almost 200 million crowns, impressed with the design of the bridge over the railway track. The city financed it with help from the state. Jihlava also boasts the most successful reconstruction of the last two years. It involved the historic town hall buildings, where experts uncovered valuable Gothic spaces. The town hall is one of the architectural gems of the city's heritage reserve. Repairs began in 2004 and cost 125 million crowns.
    The title of Golden Hands was awarded to the replica of the Gothic window in the Jihlava hotel Gustav Mahler. The public, who voted via text messages, favored the new chapel in the village of Svatoslav in the Třebíč region with its unusual stone tower.
