Nymburk - The residents of Nymburk will be able to vote on the new design of Přemyslovců Square from April 8. Nymburk aims to reconstruct the square, and its design will come from the urban-architectural competition named after Petr Parléř. The expert jury has already selected the three best projects from 17 proposals. Now, the public will also have the opportunity to express their opinions on the projects, said Deputy Mayor Pavel Fojtík (Change for Nymburk) to ČTK. The reconstruction should cost a maximum of 40 million crowns, and the city leadership plans to develop project documentation for the chosen proposal within four years.
Nymburk will display all the transformation proposals in the town hall and online. The residents of Nymburk will then vote through an internet application, with each person having six votes. "We are still discussing the possibility of also voting in person with a paper form; these are minor details that we want to finalize now," added Fojtík.
According to the city hall, the project should reassess, for example, the traffic solution of the square or the extent and quality of greenery in the historical center of the town. The reconstructed square should allow for the smooth movement of pedestrians and cyclists and address issues of lighting and noise. "From the perspective of the traffic solution, we will utilize the existing diagonal connection of the square, or we will lean towards the variant of roads along the perimeter," stated the deputy mayor.
The Petr Parléř Award is a public benefit urban-architectural competition aimed at contributing to the renewal of Czech towns and villages. Cities obtain proposals for the modification of public spaces, various buildings in public administration, and their interiors under favorable conditions through this competition. "There was a vote by the expert jury; this will be a vote by the public, and then there must follow a decision by the city on which final design to pursue," added Fojtík.
