Prague - A marina for 118 boats that an Austrian investor wants to build on the banks of the Lipno reservoir has received an important ecological assessment. The expert report, which states that the giant construction in the area of the Hruštice peninsula in the Frymburk region will not endanger the Šumava nature nor the protected areas and wildlife, is a key part of the approval process and has significantly brought the entire project closer to its start. The assessment is understandably not welcomed by the members of the Hruštice civic association, who are protesting against the construction of the new marina on Lipno.

According to the Hruštice association, the marina will have a negative impact on the protected landscape area of Šumava, significantly deteriorating the character of the landscape and the water quality in the reservoir. However, the assessment mitigates some objections and completely refutes others. "Overall, it can be stated that the realization and operation of the Hruštice Marina is acceptable in terms of impacts on the environment and public health," stated the Eia Servis company, which processed the expert assessments.
Although the marina will be part of both the Protected Landscape Area of Šumava and the European significant site of Šumava, the assessment deems its construction in the third zone of the park acceptable, and the other two protected zones of the park will not be affected by the construction, the server wrote. The field survey conducted on-site did not confirm that particularly protected animals live or rare plants grow in the area where the construction is planned.
The total area of the marina will occupy just under one hectare, nearly half of which will be on land. The Austrian development company UBM wants to build not only the marina in this location but also a recreational park with more than a hundred houses and apartments, restaurants, sports facilities, and a mini-market for about two thousand visitors. Work on expert assessments for this project is currently ongoing.
In total, the Austrians, who already own dozens of hectares of land near Lipno, want to invest 1.2 billion crowns, and they could obtain building permits within two years.
The UMB company has already invested in projects in the Czech Republic such as Darex, Zvonařka, or Anděl City in Prague, the server reminded.
The entire area will also see other investors. The land use plan of Frymburk, for example, anticipates a total of five marinas in the Hruštice peninsula area.
A billion-crown investment is already operating on the shores of the lake in the municipality of Lipno. There, the Marina complex with three hundred apartments, a yacht marina, and a water park stands. Another hundred apartments are currently being completed. A new water park and a four-star hotel are under construction near Frymburk. According to Hospodářské noviny, in the Kovářov area, recreational houses are set to begin construction next year for about 300 million crowns by Českobudějovice's Mane Holding.
