Rakovník - The new tender for the renovation of the Rakovník pool, costing approximately 180 million Czech crowns, will last about five months. The city canceled the original one due to formal requirements that its winner did not meet. The city was waiting to see if participants would appeal to the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS) before the statutory deadlines, which did not happen. The city can now announce a new tender. Since the amendment to the Public Procurement Act has come into effect, the form of the tender will also be adjusted. This was stated to journalists today by the mayor of Rakovník, Pavel Jenšovský (ČSSD).

"The assignment of the contract under the new law is more advantageous for us because the old assignment did not allow us to set an upper limit for the contract, beyond which we are not financially willing to go," said Jenšovský. The new law now allows this.

The pool has been closed since last August due to poor technical condition. Complete modernization was supposed to start in February this year and end next year. The city leadership now expects that work will begin later this year; however, an appeal to the ÚOHS could have posed significantly greater delays. The winter months do not hinder the work, as demolition work can be carried out, for example.

For summer swimming, the residents of Rakovník will not be able to use the outdoor pool adjacent to the indoor one, as they are connected to the same now-decommissioned technology. The Tyrš swimming pool in the city is still operational, into which the city hall will invest several million crowns this year.

The city will pay for the renovation of the indoor pool partly from surplus revenues from previous years, partly from this year's budget, and partly from a loan that it will take out for this purpose.
